Chris and Buddha were great. Very friendly and entertaining. Very helpful for those who needed help with equipment or had some difficulty getting on and off the boat. I especially liked that they talked about what to do and not to do during the trip to protect the rays and environment. The rays came within a few inches of our faces!! So amazing!

Soo glad you enjoyed the Manta Rays and team Captain Kris and Budha ! The manta rays are very special to our Kona coast since they are not located anywhere else in all of Hawaii ....in fact not even in many places around the world! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Mean a lot to us!

There are two locations where you can see manta rays in Kona and initially our captain took us to the southern one. We didn’t see any when we got there so the captain had us wait in the boat so we wouldn’t get cold while waiting in the water. After 15 minutes, the captain decided to take us to the northern spot, even though it was 50 minutes away and surely meant a later night for him and the swimmer. This ended up being a great call because there were around 8 rays at the north spot and they got SO close to us. I had a few rays brush my belly with their bellies even though I was trying very hard to keep out of their way. It was such a fun and wonderful experience thanks to our captain for making the call to switch sites. The southern location only had two brief manta “fly-bys” and that was it. My group only had 6 people which felt perfect. Overall my experience was great and definitely worth the money.
