You will travel with a big group of 50 people, with relatively normal location for snorkeling. You will be 50 feet above the reef, and unless you can dive deep, you don't see anything other than a couple of varieties of fish. Also, you should be able to swim by yourself, or be planned to come with someone who can help out. Since we traveled with our toddler, my wife and I had to take turns to watch after our kid. My wife didn't end up snorkeling at all, since she needed some help from the guides, and they didn't get in the water to help her out.

Aloha, Thanks for taking the time to review your Snorkel Cruise for the Trip Advisor Community (and us). We're very sorry to read that you didn't enjoy the cruise. Our captains choose our snorkel sites each trip from several dozen to optimize snorkeling and marine life viewing, but sometimes weather dictates that we choose a deeper site. This happens more frequently during the winter months, as we're more likely to be experiencing big surf on our side of the island...which means we may have to choose a deeper place to safely moor the boat. Our guides help our guests in the water, as soon as we reach the snorkel site -- we apologize that when your wife was ready to snorkel after watching your toddler, we didn't have a guide available to join her. Again, we're sorry you didn't enjoy the experience but we do hope you'll give us another chance to exceed your expectations the next time you're on the island. Mahalo

Our whole family absolutely loved this snorkeling experience. Our young kids (ages 6, 5 and 3) have never been snorkeling before, so we had no idea how they would do. The captains and other staff were immediately welcoming of them, made sure they understood instructions, gave special attention including allowing them to "drive" the boat (while off ;) and encouragement. The boat had plenty of equipment that fit them, and while our youngest initially wasn't a fan of getting into the water, they all thoroughly enjoyed it and saw some amazing animals! We saw so many different colorful fish, a sea turtle, and my husband went further out and saw a White Tip Reef Shark with a few other people. The food and drinks they provided were better than expected. Highly recommend getting the JOTO Universal Waterproof Pouch Phone Dry Bag, which allowed us to take videos underwater with a new iPhone. After we got off and went away, we realized we accidentally dropped something small on the boat, and the staff went back and searched for it and thankfully found it and returned it to us quickly. Our kids have been asking when we can go snorkel again! We are truly grateful for this memorable experience, that is leading us to a new family hobby to enjoy together!
