Garrett was funny and talkative. I wish I would have asked if our night, August 1, was considered a good night for the bioluminescence. It was beautiful but I did expect brighter because of the pictures. The stars were fantastic with no moon or clouds. As far as mosquitoes, my husband heavily made fun of the measures I took, but I walked away with zero bites. I was so paranoid because of an episode in Brazil where I had over a hundred bites....so they do love me. I wore a loose fitting jacket and pants but only flip flops so I covered my feet in Vicks Vapor rub due to something I read. Before leaving the hotel I covered myself under my clothes with eucalyptus lotion from Bath and Body works, and a layer of baby oil. I had peppermint oil behind my ears and on my hair part. And then Off Deep Woods. LOL. I didn't buy anything but threw together everything I read online in a disgusting but effective cocktail. I have no idea what worked, but it did!

This was a magical experience. Bug thank yoi to Leo and Tupac for taking such good care of us as newcomers to kayaking. Leo shared so much history and knowledge of all the wonderful things we saw. Lots of stars, flowing zipping fish, and of course the blumiscience. This is a must do!

I want to say that the tour itself and the guides were great. BUT I was bitten so many times that when I say I have more than 300 bites, it is not an exaggeration. It is 9 days later and I look like I have a disease. I had to go to the doctor to get steroids to help. I think the company should and could do a much better job to stress the bug situation. I would not have done this tour if I had any idea how bad it would be. With that said, it was cool but their picture is VERY deceptive. The lake will not be blue like they show. It you don't mind bugs, and are not disappointed that you don't see a blue lake it is good.
