Overview

On this three hour WALKING & DRIVING tour, you’ll travel around Birmingham to learn about the struggle for equal rights from the end of the Civil War up through the Civil Rights movement. Your tour will begin at the statue of Reverend Fred Shuttlesworth, the leader of the local movement Civil Rights struggle. We’ll discuss why the Civil Rights movement was needed and what led to segregation's fall. As you visit the major churches, parks and houses, you'll learn about a few groups who fought for Civil Rights in Birmingham and who fought against it.

Riding thur the black section of Brimingham. Seeing the history of Bomb Hill. I was Fascinated by all the Churches located so close together…and the amounts of Churches in general

This tour was first rate. Very well organized and very punctual, too. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to have a better understanding of our nation's Civil Rights history and how Birmingham figured into. I think it would suitable for really anyone, from teenagers through adults. Our tour not only included visits to important historical sites, but visits to homes and churches that were bombed during the Civil Rights Movement in the late 1950s and 60s. Our guide gave us plenty of opportunities to ask questions. This is also a family-run business with a father and son, both history buffs, sharing what they know from their extensive reading and study of Birmingham and Civil Rights history.

If I go back to Birmingham, I will take this tour again! Small group tour walking and on a bus...we were educated on most aspects of the civil rights era in Birmingham. The tour had 16 stops, it was fantastic!
