What an incredible and important tour. My whole trip to Birmingham was worthwhile for these three hours. Clay is extremely knowledgeable. The ride was comfortable and careful attention was had for keeping guests out of the sun. But besides the professionalism of the tour, which was 10/10, the subject and story is rich, heartbreaking and infuriating. It is a story that is not over and continues to evolve. If anyone wants to try to understand the deeply rooted story of Blacks in America, they must go on this tour. Beyond that, it is a lesson for all that hatred and bigotry is sadly a part of human nature and this history continues to be repeated for the Black community and for other communities as well. We must not become complacent in our daily lives and ignore those truly suffering from inequality. Even just to take the tour to acknowledge the history and do one little thing makes a difference. I left, bought the civil rights trail book and plan to read to my kids. That’s a start, right? Highly highly recommend!

So interesting and informative. I learned a lot about the Civil Rights movement in Birmingham, and about the city’s history, from our guide Mike. He was knowledgeable, local, and very pleasant. The van plus walking was the perfect combo. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND.
