We really enjoyed our visit. The wow factor of driving up through Oak Alley gets you in the mood to have a fantastic day. There isn't a ton to see and do but all is available upon arrival vs the annoying add ons you have to deal with at Magnolia Gardens. The slave cabin displays were informative. The Gullah presentation was great. The person who led it, an 8th generation Gullah woman, was fun, funny and loaded with info and personal experience. The train ride around the property is lazy and nice to relax and learn on. You don't get to see much of the house, just a couple of rooms on the ground floor. We are fans of the Notebook so we enjoyed that anyway. We had a nice time.

Boone hall was great. I loved the tractor ride. The property is massive. The house was nice of what we were allowed to see. Most of the house due to restrictions was not accessible. Other than that it was pretty nice.

1) you can drive out to this working plantation from Charleston and enter for $23/person. 2) The plantation is authentic and true to the era of the big, pre-war plantations except for one rather significant item: the house. The house is owned and inhabited by a Canadian, built in the 1930s! 3) It is still a great tour of a true, still-functional, lowcountry farm and is also very enlightening about the life of those enslaved Africanos who lived and worked there prior to Emancipation.
