The folks out there do a fine job of educating about the plantation life, both from the aspect of the owners and the enslaved people who lived and worked there.

I knew nothing about the Gallu culture that negro spirituals are based upon. Our guide for the one hour slave headquarters tour was a descendent of the Galllu family and culture. She sang several spiritual songs, one of which was, Amazing grace and her voiced went through your soul. I was not impressed with Charleston itself, but through the trip to Boone Hall Plantation and the trip to the Citadel made it all worthwhile.

This is a beautiful plantation . The guide was very knowledgeable and made this tour very interesting. My favorite was the Gullah presentation, the speaker was fabulous!!!! The weather was rainy & cold but everyone still made this experience enjoyable.
