This was the highlight of my trip. Lead by an intelligent historian was great but the costume and the excitement made it spectacular. I'm not a fast walker and have some foot problems but had no problem with the walk or keeping up with the group. There might have been 30-40 people in our tour, but our guide spoke well and you could stand as close to him as you wanted. I read some reviews about not being able to hear. Well maybe your guide was wearing a mask. People in Boston are still nutty about wearing masks all over the place and outside. Not good when you need to listen to someone speaking, so pick a guide without a mask.
End of July was very hot but our guide gathered us together frequently in the shade. There were plenty of photo ops and time to appreciate the stories and information. I saw other tours being let by college kids. Different experience I'm sure. By the way, you can walk the trail for free and download info and maps. We just felt the personal touch made a huge difference.
Every site on the tour was explained and the tour ended at Faneuil hall. There you could take a photo with the guide or ask questions.... and give a tip, which we did.
This is a tour that every American should experience. Its about culture, art, patriotism and history. I'm going to take this tour every time I come to Boston.
