Day one in Boston we decided to start with the much publicised freedom Trail. Our guide for this really reasonably priced tour was Lydia mulliken who was passionate about the history of the city and really brought the tour to life. Started at the visitor centre in Boston common where a large group had signed up for the noon tour. Group was split in half for ease and luckily we got Lydia. She made it her job to get to know who was in the group and then humorously included us in her spiel. Fantastic way to start our stay in Boston especially as brits who know nothing of American history. At end of tour she recommended places to eat and gave opinions on other things to do which were honest and based on personal experience rather than rubbishing other tours (mostly she had positive things to say). Thanks Lydia we could have wandered the trail with you all day - even our 20 year old daughter thoroughly enjoyed it and she is rarely impressed by history in any form.

Our guide was marvelous. She made the entire tour as interesting and informative as could be. She answered questions as they were presented by group members and was available to speak privately answering questions that might have been of limited interest to the group as a whole. She kept in period mode at all times, which was fun.
