There are several different harbor cruises from which to choose and we went for the full 90 minute tour. It was a beautiful, sunny day and we opted for topside seats in the sun but there are seats under cover on the first deck, as well. Once underway, our guide talked a little about Boston history, how much of Boston is actually landfill and how most of the shoreline is actually man made. Boston Harbor is filled with various sized islands and the cruise is mostly about those islands and how they have been used over the years. We also learned about what is and has been on the shoreline, too. We certainly knew nothing about that part of Boston history and we found it fascinating and there is something impressive about seeing a big city from the water. It gives an entirely different perspective.
The vessel itself is a clean and stable, a crew that looks like they know what they are doing and the guide was informative and engaging. There's a snack bar with beer and wine and big restrooms, too. A nice addition to a Boston visit.
