All and all we had a good time, but this seems to be a bit of a hit and miss. We are very glad to have switched trolleys so that we ended up with Matty as our driver/guide, because he knows his stuff and told an entertaining and informative story through the tour. We are three friends visiting from Sweden and were all looking forward to a guided tour about the history of Boston and all the sites. However our first guide, a 72 year old man, kept mumbling his own personal sports anecdotes, occasionally mentioning the history of Boston in passing by: “yeah, so this is where the big battle took place” without mentioning anything about which battle or when or how or anything of interest. So we are very happy that we got off that trolley and onto the next one and got a new guide, Matty, who cared for the tour and for us onboard. Since the drivers basically work for tips we of course made sure to tip Matty well, where as the previous driver although we lasted onboard from stop 1 through 6 we just couldn’t tip him anything. But after the change of guides/trolleys we are now very happy with this tour and hopefully a review like this will get CityView Trolley tours to keep a closer eye on their guides, since the price of this ride is a rather steep $41.

My son and I wanted to enjoy a nice ride tour of Boston area. We chose to do a day tour on CityView Trolley and now I wish we had not. The tour guide and trolley driver really made the tour unenjoyable for all on the trolley, Brian. Brian complained the entire hour trip and 9 stops and was able to fit in a little info about Boston during the tour. Brian complained about how other tours have two people do the tour, one to drive and the other to talk and he was made to do both and was risking his license by doing both. After Brian hit a construction fence with the trolley he got on and off the trolley twice and both times attempted to fix the part of the trolley he hit the fence with and bitched about the traffic both times. This trolley was also a Hop-On-Hop-Off trolley with 9 stops and each time Brian stopped he complained over the PA how no one was tipping him (Quote) “Not even a dollar”. Also what I found childish was Brian informed use on several occasions that if people on the trolley insisted on talking he would stop the tour part and just drive silently to each stop. I paid $68.00 for two on this tour and it was a rip off of a tour and am very sorry we and everyone on the tour had to deal with Brian and his immaturity. At the end of the tour Brian stated over the PA “You may not like my personality but you should tip for the tour’”, Brian, here is a tip for you, get a personality that will earn you a money tip next time. My Tour was Monday July 15, 2019 at Noon.
