I have lived in New England all of my life and have seen most of the tour at one time or another. The history and an up close view was what I was looking for. Not with this group. The commentator/driver was incorrect in many of his facts. The tour did not offer you up close views unless you exited the bus (stops hard to find and access). For example: the Bunker Hill Monument is large and sticks up through the landscape. We were several streets away and never got near it. The USS Constitution has just returned from dry-dock and was on one side of the dock and a stately US Naval vessel was on the other. At not time did the driver mention that the Constitution had just come back from repair and you couldn't tour it as yet and never mentioned why there was a huge naval vessel there as well. History is what Boston is all about. This is a poor representation of this beautiful, historical city. Suggestions: Use another trolley. As for the harbor boat tour, That was informative and enjoyable. Maybe do just the boat tour...

Great to be able to hop on and hop off throughout the day. Good number of sites seen, however it did see that the Old Town Trolley had more sites they included, but they cost more--

This is a wonderful activity, whether you're a local or from out of town. You can get on without a ticket at any of the stops, and then pay for the ride later when the tour gets to the ticket booth at what is technically the first stop. When you get on without a ticket, the driver holds your credit card so that you don't essentially get a free tour by getting off before the stop where you buy the tickets. This is a great feature, because if you've driven your car to the USS Constitution and have parked there, you can see the ship and museum, and then board the trolley there, without a trolley ticket. If this feature of being able to board at any of the stops without a ticket, didn't exist, we'd never have been able to take the tour. Our driver was very entertaining and engaging. I learned a lot, but I've got to say - for the absolute best informative tour EVER, take the Boston Harbor Cruise narrated live, by David Coffin - blew me away!!
