We took this hop on - hop off trolley tour on our first day in Boston and rode the full circuit, to get a feel of the city. I think it's useful to get a sense of the place, of the distances between sights you want to visit. How enjoyable it is also depends on the driver: our first driver was enthusiastic and knowledgeable and threw in stories and advice about places to visit. The second driver was ill-humored and matter-of-factly.

Trolley tour and the drivers were excellent - for the most part- (there was one not as good as the others)- very knowledgeable and funny. We hopped on and off the trolley at multiple spots which was very convenient and was the best. It also gave us multiple drivers. Because it was so informative we made sure we actually did the whole tour. The trolley tour gives a very good overall feel of the city and the sights downtown. We also did the harbor tour and I was not impressed with the Harbor tour. It was pretty mundane and not a lot to see- just a big circle in the habor.

Great experience! This is a guided trolley tour to many significant attractions in Boston. We chose to stay on one trolley the entire loop, then we hopped on and off as we chose the rest of the day. Each driver/guide has their own personality to share. One of the guides had us cracking up at his dry humor...it was great! This could be a half day event or you could visit at every stop the entire day...my opinion is a minimum of 2 hours.
