This was a fantastic experience. The whale watching was amazing. We’ve been on several similar tours, and this was the best as far as proximity of viewing the whales, pleasant ride, education, amenities etc. I’m giving it a “3” based on one employees handling of the current pandemic, and I hope someone from the company reads this. The passengers were rightly notified several times by speaker that face masks were not optional. Most followed the guidelines, some did not. We were sitting on the main cabin which was proportionally socially distanced. Jackie takes her job seriously and is very much the mask police to “certain” individuals. There was a group of three heavy drinkers at the front left (bow side port side??..11:00..) with immediate proximity to the access door to outside that had their masks down around their chin or hanging off their ear the entirety of the trip. I watched Jackie stand within 6 feet of these individuals who weren’t wearing masks and gesture to an African American man who was sitting in a middle row far away from anyone to lift his mask over his nose. He held up the Corona bottle he had purchased and she walked outside. This scenario occurred more than once with different passengers of different ethnicity. I’m not implying she’s racist but that image is burned into my mind as an example. Her sense of self righteousness, and her limited ability to enforce guidelines was very much a dark cloud over the tour. She was a bully to the people she could bully, and submissive to those she couldn’t. Either enforce the mask mandate or don’t. Being selective in the enforcement is not the way to go about it.

Hi randomtrue and thanks for your review. we're glad to hear that you found your whale watch to be amazing but sorry that your experience was dampened by a crew member's actions. The safety of our passengers and crew is always our top priority and we have made several policy enhancements at this time, including the "masks required" policy. We've asked the crew to reinforce when they see passengers with no masks or masks not covering entire faces but have made the exception for times when a passenger is eating or drinking and then they are told to stay in one place and put masks back on as soon as they are done. We know that this is not an easy task for some of our crew and we're sorry that you did not feel like Jackie was consistent. I've spoken to her supervisor and passed your comments along and we will provide her with additional training. We want all of our passengers to feel safe and treated the same. I'd be happy to discuss with you further. If you'd like, please feel free to contact me at [email protected].
