Booked online - easy. A nice large catamaran which transports you out for about an hour or so to Stellwagen Bank. When the speed picks up outside the harbour it's pretty windy but on a nice day like we had no problem. Plenty of room inside though if weather not good. We saw a number of whales - truly fantastic sight. The first whale we saw gave us a great show - breaching and rolling over. The others were a bit more reserved but overall it was great. All of the staff on the boat were very friendly and helpful - chatting with customers and answering questions. My only gripe and reason for 4 not 5 stars was the sound quality on the tannoy. It was very indistinct and I moved around to try and hear it better but to no effect. We were outside but even when the boat was stopped it wasn't great. That said we thoroughly enjoyed our trip and thought it good value for money. I'd recommend.

I’m not the world’s greatest sailor but my concerned were allayed when I saw the size of the vessel we would be in. Several hundred people left Boston harbour and travelled for about 80 minutes. The expertise of the accompanying crew and the information available helped considerably.. We weren’t promised whales but we saw them. A mother and calf gave us about half an hour of sheer pleasure. To see these magnificcreatures in their natural habitat was quite profound.
