What a beautiful neighborhood full of history! Andy was really knowledgeable about the area and its vibrant past. He gave a lot of insight about what things looked like when they were built and how they’ve changed over time. He had visuals to show it, which was really helpful in envisioning the stories! So much history took place in Brooklyn Heights. Now I’m seeing it everywhere, like on the Gilded Age tv series! Many of the people who built NYC had their roots in this neighborhood. The tour also comes with fantastic views of Manhattan & the Statue of Liberty (along the promenade) and the neighborhood itself is full of beautiful homes, churches and greenery. What a dreamy oasis. It doesn’t feel like you’re in the hustle and bustle of NYC, but in reality you’re steps away from Brooklyn’s Borough Hall and minutes from Manhattan. After the tour, there are tons of great restaurants and bars on Henry or Montague streets! Or you can easily walk down to Dumbo for pizza and an ice cream or walk/bike the Brooklyn Bridge. I highly recommend this tour, whether you’re a local to the city or just visiting. It’s great to see this hidden gem. And Andy will make it worth your while with fun facts galore and a humble approach to tourism. He’s super open to questions and active participation.
