Aug 2011
Our family including older teenagers and adults went along with a group of 14 total on a 4th of July camping and whitewater rafting adventure. We stayed for 2 nights at the River Runners Resort located 6 miles South of Buena Vista. The campsite was literally bank side to the Arkansas river. With amneities that included a covered canopy with picnic tables underneath We set up our stove and coolers here, very convenient for lounging and eating with everything out of the sun. The site also had a fire pit (but unfortunately we were under a fire ban) with clean on site showers & bathrooms. The campgroud is located right next to the rafting business site so this offers very easy access when it's time to wet suit and signing form time and then the dock is just down the way. This was most of our families 1st time whitewater rafting and honestly we were a bit apphrensive as the water was very high and running fast, but no worries our guide was very knowledgable and great at what she does. Our trip was of Browns canyon full day intermediate run. We rode the rapids for a while in the morning and then stopped to have a quickly prepared meal thanks to the group of guides with us. then off for the bigger rapids after lunch. Our trip also included for those who dared a cave jump where they stop. Most of our group took the plunge and it was what do they say an experience of "while I'm here I'd better take it". Great job River Runners we plan to come here again...
