Oct 2021
Attended Busch Gardens Tampa on Oct. 15, 2021 for an all day visit with my family of four (2 adults, 2 kids). We paid close to Orlando amusement park prices (Disney, Universal) for a significantly inferior experience. Many, many rides/attractions were completely unstaffed, some were inoperable because they were understaffed, and yet others had frequent closures/shutdowns because of reported mechanical problems. I literally had to call Busch Gardens corporate offices while deep inside the park to lodge a complaint at how poorly staffed and run this park is - to no avail (there were no offers of assistance or remuneration, they simply lodged my complaint). We paid full price for a park that was being run, at any given time, at half capacity to 3/4 capacity in terms of the rides/attractions that were available. Visit at your own risk! You are better off driving to Orlando and paying just slightly more for experiences that are of a much higher caliber and quality.

I understand COVID/staffing are still ongoing issues, however, tickets should then not be full price for a sub-par experience. We paid over $1000 for one day tickets and quick queue passes for a family of 5; not to mention our flight and hotel costs. Montu never opened the entire day. Cobra's Curse and Falcon's Fury were both closed for about 1/2 the day so we ended up even more exhausted crossing back and forth across the park. Also closed: almost all kiosk snack vendors; henna tattoo booth; Lory Landing (which was a major reason we wanted to come for my teen daughter who wants to be an ornithologist); Skyride and Stanley Falls Flume just to name a few. When I called into your customer service to get instructions on how to work the quick queue passes, they told me I had to go to the service window on arrival and get wristbands. 15 minutes wasted in line and the employee tells me they don't do wristbands in Tampa and since I am the only one with the bar codes on my phone I will have to be with my teenagers to scan them into each ride. Another employee later told me there was somewhere to go to get a printed card or something but by then I felt I had wasted enough time. Multiple rides that were open did not have enough staff to properly operate them. Our quick queue passes were not even looked at on several rides and several rides had no quick queue staff directing guests where to go, so it was left to the two lines to figure out how merge together. Child swap is not done well; no one could even explain it to us properly for the first couple rides; what I finally gathered is that if you have quick queue then child swap is worthless. Park signage is not sufficient and the app is insufficient and not intuitive; e.g. evening activities show on the map during the day which just causes confusion. Employees were a mix - some very nice and a couple fully rude. Leaving the parking lot took about 40 minutes; no staff members were directing traffic until about 6:45pm when they moved some barriers and people could finally get out. In summary, extremely overpriced for what is delivered. We have been to Disney, Cedar Point, Six Flags and Universal; IMO all were considerably better; either better experiences or at least better value for your money.
