Drive your GoBuggy, the world’s first storytelling car, through San Diego’s Old Town, where Mexican and Western cultures blend seamlessly. Departing from Old Town, you'll head to Point Loma, stopping at Liberty Station, a former Naval Training Center closed in 1997 and now transformed into a vibrant community of homes, recreational centers, restaurants, and hotels. Next, your GoBuggy will direct you to Shelter Island, offering a stunning view of the Attack Submarine Base. Continue to Cabrillo National Monument and the Point Loma Ecological Reserve to see the historic lighthouse. As you pass the tide pools, be sure to stop and explore the rich aquatic life. Conclude your tour at the romantic Sunset Cliffs, surrounded by eclectic Ocean Beach homes and charming shops, free from chain businesses.

Point Loma

Point Loma is historically important as the landing place of the first European expedition to come ashore in present-day California. Point Loma houses two major military bases, a national cemetery, a national monument, and a university, in addition to residential and commercial areas.

Shelter Island

Shelter Island is a neighborhood of Point Loma in San Diego, California, United States. It is actually not an island but is connected to the mainland by a narrow strip of land. It was originally a sandbank in San Diego Bay, visible only at low tide. It was built up into dry land using material dredged from the bay in 1934. It was developed in the 1950s and contains hotels, restaurants, marinas, and public parkland.

Cabrillo National Monument

Cabrillo National Monument is located at the southern tip of the Point Loma Peninsula in San Diego. It commemorates the landing of Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo at San Diego Bay on September 28, 1542. This event marked the first time a European expedition had set foot on what later became the West Coast of the United States. The site was designated as California Historical Landmark #56 in 1932. The area was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on October 15, 1966.

Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery

Fort Rosecrans is a federal military cemetery in the city of San Diego. It's located on the grounds of the former Army coastal artillery station Fort Rosecrans and is administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. The cemetery is located west of Downtown San Diego, overlooking San Diego Bay and the city from one side, and the Pacific Ocean on the other. Fort Rosecrans is named after William Starke Rosecrans, a Union general in the American Civil War. The cemetery is spread out over 77.5 acres located on both sides of Catalina Blvd.

Old Point Loma Lighthouse

A historic lighthouse located on the Point Loma peninsula at the mouth of San Diego Bay in San Diego, California. It is situated in the Cabrillo National Monument. It is no longer in operation as a lighthouse but is open to the public as a museum.

Sunset Cliffs Natural Park

Sunset Cliffs is an affluent coastal community in the Point Loma community of San Diego, California. It is bordered by the Pacific Ocean on the west, Ocean Beach on the north, Catalina Blvd. and Santa Barbara St. on the east, and Sunset Cliffs Natural Park on the south.

Ocean Beach

Ocean Beach is a vibrant, bohemian neighborhood, with a classic SoCal beach vibe. Surfers and sunbathers fill the namesake beach, while Ocean Beach Pier is a popular local fishing spot with sweeping views. Nearby, Newport Avenue is lined with antiques shops, beachwear and surf boutiques, organic groceries, taquerias and brewpubs.
