Canyonlands National Park Backcountry Tour

Overview

This tour explores the backcountry of Canyonlands National Park (Island in the Sky District) in approximately 4 hours. You will ride along in one of our 4x4 backcountry vehicles with heat and a/c for optimal comfort during all seasons.

Throughout this half day experience you will learn all about the parks, history, and geology of the Moab area. Your guide will point out Arch formations, and other towering landscapes along the way. Since our tours are private we can stop for photos at any point.

Sight seeing areas on this tour include but are not limited to Potash Mine, Shafer Trail, Musselman Arch, Ancient Indian Petroglyphs (Rock Carvings), Thelma and Louise point, and breathtaking canyon views. This tour will include both pavement sections and 4x4 road sections that are not paved.

Water and snacks are always provided for free.

What To Expect

Canyonlands National Park

You do not need a reservation or an entry ticket for this tour. The price is all inclusive. Folks visiting the parks on their own typically only see what is along side the pavement road - this tour will venture into the 4x4 backcountry for an exquisite and unique National Park experience. We had a fantastic tour with a very knowledgeable guide (Dave L.) who provides a safe but exhilarating off-road experience! He not only provided an outstanding professional tour but provided really great recommendations on other areas we could explore on our own. Strong 5 stars!

YIKES!! Let me start by saying that Dave was our tour guide and was very knowledgeable about this tour. We saw things / places that we would have NEVER seen had we done our own self guided tour. The company is incredible as a whole. The views were absolutely amazing. IF YOU DO NOT LIKE HEIGHTS THIS IS •NOT• THE TOUR FOR YOU!!! I was thinking this was a guided tour through the park on paved roads to over look the canyons and be told information about certain parts of the canyon- mmm nope!! This trial takes you on “Schafer Trail” do yourself a favor and check it out on YouTube first. It’s not for the faint of heart. Dave was a great driver I never 1 felt unsafe neither did my family! But it was alarming to look out the window as your driving the rim of the canyon and not see any ground until the bottom of the canyon. Some parts of the road were only about as wide as the car we were in (and it was a 2 way road ) . They provide snacks and ice cold water on the tours there’s random restrooms (no sinks) throughout the tour. I for sure recommend this tour this and Dave.

My husband and I had a fantastic time on the Canyonlands National Park Tour. Dave was a great guide and very informative. He knows the area and does an amazing job during our tour explaining the different sites. He also gave us tips on other things to do in the area and where to eat.
