We've been ziplining before, but Captain Ziplines Aerial Park was like nothing we've EVER experienced and we've been traveling the world for the past year! Imagine playing Indiana Jones on a jungle gym on steroids in the midst of a massive canyon with breathtaking views. It was so much fun and I would recommend for anyone - kids, families, couples, adrenaline junkies - ANYONE. Even being petrified of heights, I was so glad I pushed myself to do it. I always felt secure with their smart key clip in system. It seemed a little complicated at first, but after a few platforms it comes with ease. Even the kids had it figured out. I loved that you could go at your own pace. If you wanted to stick to the beginner levels the whole time, you could. No pressure. You only move up when you are ready. It was such a blast and completely gratifying. The guides were all very knowledgeable about the area and a lot of fun. I would do it again in a heartbeat. If you are anywhere near Salida, don't miss your opportunity to visit Captain Zipline!!

My husband and I (age 65-66) did the Captain Zipline tour on August 20, 2014. We were nervous because of our ages and the fact that we hadn't done a zipline before. We are in fairly good shape for our ages. Upon arrival we were welcomed by Josh. The check in process was very easy and we waited for all participants to arrive. There were 14 in all, two children, several middle aged adults, and several senior citizens. They have GoPro cameras for rent if you want one for $29. They give you the card from it at the end of the tour. After we all received the gear to wear, we were given an individual lesson on a short zipline that is close to the ground. Then we proceeded by van to six different ziplines which increased in length and degree of descent. You have to do short hikes between the ziplines. Some are fairly steep, but short. Josh and James were wonderful guides and were funny, helpful, kind, and informative about the surroundings, i.e. rocks, mines, etc. We never feared for our safety. This was such a great experience and we both can't wait to do it again!

You can tell it's a zip line course because it is.... (You will get it if you've been or if you go). Plenty of action for the entire family. The kids are 8 and 11 and they were able to do it all. This may be a little more advanced than some. You wear gloves and can steer and slow yourself down. A lot of ziplines you just hang on until you hit the end. You can do that on this one if you prefer. You don't have to put your hand on the cable (the kids didn't, they just rode). There is a short training course where you practice steering/stopping until you are comfortable doing it or decide to just hang on. The guides Rob and Preston were great. They have the "best" jokes..... Not. They were great with the kids and made you feel safe and secure. They also have go pros available that you can put on your helmet if you want live action. There is an aerial ropes course there too. We didn't do it but looked really cool and had Varying degrees of difficulty that you could work your way up too.. If you are in the Salida/buena vista area, don't miss this one.
