We've been taking curious Catalina visitors on journeys of discovery into Lover's Cove Marine Preserve for nearly a century. While the vessels have evolved over the years, the unique experience of being drawn in to an undersea wonderland remains the same. Meet your captain at Float B on the Green Pleasure Pier that extends into Avalon Harbor, directly offshore from Catalina Avenue. Once aboard the MoonStone, you will be able to see the bottom of the sea! You’ll see a variety of colorful fish and other sea life as you cruise through what many consider to be one of the healthiest marine environments in the world.

This is the original (and driest) way to enjoy the sea life at Lover's Cove in Avalon. The boat is a classic and there are comfortable arm rests and seats that allow you to get a good view of the wildlife. We saw kelp forests, Garibaldi, opal eye, half moon, and stripped bass, along other fish -more than I expected to see. The captain explained the marine preserve and names of the fish. I thought the length was just enough time to keep our kiddos attention without it being boring for them. Good ventilation and cross breeze in the boat. A fun excursion overall!

The shuttle didn’t get us back in time for the departure at 12:30pm. How are we suppose to know island time meant? It’s a small Avalon island, I’m not understanding why it takes 40mins to return back and fourth when it was less then 8min drive down to the main station? As the shuttle suppose to get us there by 12:15p by the pier. We would’ve made this tour! We got there 12:25 after running from drop off point where we didn’t know driver would drop us off further from the pier. Because we were told the shuttle will drop us off where we want to, which was another lie. They told us the boat docked at 12:30, which is a lie, because we got there in line 12:25pm the boat was at no site! Secondly, Standing in activity line for 10 to 15 min… we got stamped on our ticket to be stand by, afterwards at 1:15pm stood in line to try again, but no room was available, the driver said. So I can’t rate the ride!! Then gave the tickets up and lost my money. First time on the island and after a long time taking a small vacation. Was super exited getting there and now I and the teens really upset and wanted to go home. No, I can’t rate this tour.
