During my last visit, i rented a bike at Bike Rental Central Park, i was left disappointed under many aspects, one of them is certainly the safety, bikes not only are old and not in good conditions, but they don't have lights, or ringing bells, i asked to the staff a bike with a basket, because i had a backpack in order to make more comfortable my ride, they denied this to me, by saying that those are only for womens bike, then they handed me a brochure with a useless map, and in the same brochure along with their prices, was indicating, that every rental comes with, a helmet, basket, and a bike lock. I felt being made a fool In anycase i suggest to anyone that there's the great option of Citibike a daily pass or three day pass for everyone that is visiting are really affordable, you can pickup bikes all over new york, from the brooklyn bridge, to central park, and many other awesome places, i didn't opted for this service in the first place, because when i was trying to buy a pass at a citibike station kiosk, it said that would have blocked a deposit of 100usd on my credit card, but then i discovered that if you go to the citibike kiosks in central park, besides the digital screen, there are also the staff, and if you buy from them the daily pass or the three day pass, on their ipads, you won't have to pay any deposit, so, i enjoyed my last three days in the city, riding safely through all over new york.

The bike rental was a few blocks from Central Park. They were a little unfriendly and the bikes also didn't have mud guards on them. This was a problem when it started pouring down rain. There is a bike rental place right at the entrance to the park on Colombus, but the Citi Bikes are also one of the best things you can rent. We rented them for 24 hours and it was so easy to get around.

I purchased a 4 hour bike rental for two thru Groupon. It was our first visit to NYC and we wanted to explore Central Park. What a mistake using this rental place was. The bikes are in bad shape. The first bike my husband got the chain fell off before we left the place. They provided him with another one. However both bikes where in bad shape. The front wheel/steering on one wobbled. The other had a ripped seat. We took off for Central Park despite this. We had only ridden about 10 minutes before the chain came off the one with wobbly handle bars. Had to take the tire off to get the chain on and then the tire rubbed. The second bike's chain came off next. We had to disconnect the rear brake at one point because the brake was rubbing the tire and preventing the wheel from moving. We ended up basically walking the bikes back to the rental place. When we complained one of the guys laughed and spoke to a co-worker in another language. I didn't ask for a refund, but wanted my license back that they were holding as a deposit. They said we needed to wait in the LONG line of people getting bikes. We were covered in bike grease and the place was over 90 degrees inside. The workers were rude but finally one of the girls did go and get my license. It was so disappointing. There were other bike rentals that had really nice bikes, but we were from out of town and didn't know this when we rented them. Even one of the security guards at Central Park said "That's what you get from the bike rental". Anyways..save yourself. Use another bike rental company.
