Rented nine bicycles in Aug 2013 and they processed eroneously three extra credit charges for over $400 USD and one month later we still have not seen any refund nor any constructive replies. Don't beleive the response to these negative review that "...oh you should have contacted us" because we did and they just ignore you. Don't believe, see also Better Business Bureau at http://www.bbb.org/new-york-city/Business-Reviews/guide-service/bike-rental-central-park-inc-in-new-york-ny-127652/Complaints#breakdown and read the outcomes for Bike rental Central Park. The company does not even respond to BBB's requests, so don't get your hopes too high as a customer.

We rented bikes at this location as we wanted to tour around Central Park. There was a very long line-up and only one person helping people to get their bikes. As such it was a long wait even though there were many bikes waiting for customers. The bikes really need tuned-ups. Both of our bikes made terrible sounds and we worried about making it up the next hill. There were other bike rental companies around Central Park, but we used this one as it was included in the New York Pass.

As we were climbing the steps from the subway at Coumbus Circle, we were approached by several people. We had a bit more than an hour, but not quite 2 hours, so when the guy from Bike Rental Central Park @ 57th St. approached us saying that he would give us 2 hours for 1, we said OK. We then had to walk 3 or 4 blocks to his shop, which was packed and it looked as if it would be a long wait. After waiting a bit, the guy comes back to us and tells us that "his manager" won't allow him to give the discount that he offered us. Its all a scam to get you to walk the few blocks past other closer places and when you get there, there is no deal. I didn't want to give this company any money, so we walked back to the park and found an independent guy with bikes right there. Paid our money and were off, in 3 minutes. Riding around the park is great. Just be careful what company you use. I wouldn't rent anything again unless, I saw the bike in front of me and saw the line.
