What To Expect

Central Park Zoo

The zoo is open every day of the year and features three major biomes: the Tropic Zone, Temperate Territory, and the Polar Circle. From tropical birds, to snow leopards, grizzly bears, and one of the nation’s largest colonies of Antarctic penguins, there are animals to enjoy in every season. We also feature the Tisch Children’s Zoo, a playful adventure for our youngest guests who’ll encounter goats, sheep, some of the world’s most unique ducks, and the only cow who calls Manhattan home. Our goal is to inspire our visitors and connect them to the plight of animals in the wild and the conservation work we’re doing to protect them.

I'm not from NYC. Brought my granddaughter for her Spring break. She loves animals. Where I'm from, you don't PAY to enter the zoos and the experience is MUCH BETTER. So to pay, I expected alot more. Won't be visiting this particular zoo again.

This is a small but nice zoo! Our home zoo is one of the best in the country, so we always adjust our expectations when visiting others, understanding that no zoo can compare to ours, and that's okay. The Central Park Zoo is compact and easy to navigate, with a nice variety of animals to see. The sea lions and the bears were fun to watch! We also enjoyed the movie in the 4D theater. It's easy to get to, and you could see it all in just a couple of hours. Definitely worth a visit!

We got free tickets so went and surprisingly had a great time as adults! It’s a small zoo, well maintained and easily reached. Highly recommended with children!
