Central Park Zoo
The zoo is open every day of the year and features three major biomes: the Tropic Zone, Temperate Territory, and the Polar Circle. From tropical birds, to snow leopards, grizzly bears, and one of the nation’s largest colonies of Antarctic penguins, there are animals to enjoy in every season. We also feature the Tisch Children’s Zoo, a playful adventure for our youngest guests who’ll encounter goats, sheep, some of the world’s most unique ducks, and the only cow who calls Manhattan home. Our goal is to inspire our visitors and connect them to the plight of animals in the wild and the conservation work we’re doing to protect them.

It was raining when we arrived so the Zoo was quiet. However, we spoke to one of the female keepers who told us the story about the Snow Leopards - you could tell she was a very caring person by the way she spoke about them... Great visit despite the awful weather, if you decide to go, I promise, you won't be disappointed!

The central park zoo was an unexpected gem. Although it's small it was perfect. There was a little show with the seals while the staff examined them and gave them medicine, the penguins were fantastic! My favorite part was the aviary! I would skip the petting zoo, unless you have tiny little ones that really want to feed or pet goats.

I really enjoyed our visit, we were only in NYC for a 2 full days, and we wanted to do a lot, but we really love visiting zoo's or animal parks when they're an option. The Central Park zoo is especially good for a morning or afternoon visit, but it's certainly only about a half-day experience. We also visited when it was pretty cold, I imagine it's a bit more pretty in the Spring and Summer. It's also pretty accessible, most exhibits are accessible, with some viewing points only accessible by stairs. I wouldn't categorize it as full accessible, especially for chair-bound guests. I think our ticket also included like a kids area petting zoo, which we did not take advantage of.
