Charleston's Best History Walking Tour - 10 AM

Overview
Hi ya'll, I'm Cooper. There are many walking tours in Charleston. Some better than others. None more informative than this tour. We pride ourselves on providing a story-based tour of the historic district, in a humorous, yet accurately historical way.

The information you learn on our tours will simply amaze you. From the events of colonial Charleston to the quirky little facts no other tour takes the time to research. We teach history in a fun and interactive way.

We start by having a discussion about what you like in history. The things that you want to learn. From there we'll craft the tour around such topics as modern-day charleston, the civil war, the revolutionary war, cultural history, architecture, and even talk about the reality of slavery in Charleston.

We were voted best history tour in Charleston, and we work hard every day to live up to that title.

So come on ya'll...let's learn some history

We start out by the water, walk mostly in the shade - and take as many breaks as people may need. Please keep in mind. We’re not walking fast, and we take our time. However, Charleston isn’t known for its straight and level sidewalks – that’s why we don’t recommend wheelchairs and walkers on a tour like this. Strollers are fine. However, young children may need a little extra care on the narrow sidewalks.   It’s very hot and humid in in Charleston this time of year. In addition to comfortable walking shoes, and a great attitude - you may want to bring a bottled water.

We did a 1 pm tour 2 days ago and had Mark as a tour guide. Mark knew so much about the city and the history. Everyone that asked a question, Mark had an answer, he knew so much, he told us he studied many hours and read many history books. Mark seemed to have a love for history and showed that in his tour. he took this time to learn where we were all from and addressed each person through the tour.. Mark took his time and talked loud so our entire group could hear well. I highly recommend taking this tour Keep in mind you will walk. We walked well over a 1/2 mile out and same coming back. but Mark got us to sit twice on tour in shade as he told us the history stories of that area my wife and I were not expecting much on this but at the end were thoroughly impressed specially with our guide. that can make or break your experience

Overall a great tour, lots of history I did not know. Though the meeting place was easy to find we still arrived a few minutes late but Mark was so kind and didn't make us feel bad. However I suggest not arriving late as the other tourists did seem to mind and I don't blame them since it was sooo hot. Mark is a very good tour guide and gave us a very good overview of Charleston history. I especially loved walking through the residential section and hearing the stories of past residents. I love learning history through the personal stories of all the characters involved. My only suggestion for this tour is an ice cream, beer or ice tea stop somewhere along the route on the really hot days. It was well over 90 degrees the day of our tour and standing in the sun at some points on the tour was intolerable for me.

There are simply no stores in the Historic District to purchase things - and as always, we found as much shade as possible. We did everything we could to make you as comfortable as we could :(
