Charleston's alleyways are fortunately located within the popular historic district which allows us to include some well known points of interest and go a little "off the beaten path” while exploring the history and beauty of Charleston's enchanting alleyways. Generally, we include between four to six different alleyways/passages as well as popular points of interest like Rainbow Row and of course, tons of history! These pedestrian passageways are often overlooked, but walking along these cobbled paths is an opportunity to appreciate Charleston's rich history and hidden, more intimate charms.

Our guide was incredible. He was well versed in the history of Charleston. How amazing to discover secret alleyways, gardens and the stories behind the scenes. We learned of the beauty and fauna of plants, trees & flowers. River rock streets, architecture and tidbits most out- of-towners like ourselves would not have known. Loved it!

A wealth of knowledge and a friendly personality made the 2 hour tour well worth it. Getting off the beaten path really provided a side of Charleston I wouldn’t have known. The backstory of each of the areas visited was fascinating. Kudos Captain Jim!

Captain Jim was FANTASTIC!!!!! He is a wealth of knowledge on all kinds of aspects of Charleston: history, architecture, horticulture, and more. It was great to listen to him and truly get to see Charleston through his eyes. I also loved the fact that as we walked, he seemed to know many of the locals. One local even stopped to tell us how great Jim was. I highly recommend Captain Jim and this walking tour.
