Charleston is a beautiful city, and it was very enjoyable walking with Bill Stanton as our guide. He is a retired history teacher with a gift for bringing history alive. A very lovely morning, and a great introduction to this magnificent city.

Bill took us on a tour that was so interesting, starting at the Old Customs House and ending at the 'Hat Man.' We learned a lot about the Civil War, Charleston over the decades, architectural design, and local customs. Bill was a high school history teacher, so he was well-versed in the subject, and was very willing to share his knowledge. The tour was two hours, and was a leisurely walk down to the Battery and back through the neighborhood south of Broad. Perfect activity on a nice day!

Nice to see the city on foot. Definitely a different perspective than coach. However, it can get very hot in Charleston so take that into consideration. I was exhausted by the end.

Tour guide over romanticized the history. As an African American, I do not want the story of slavery left out. Slaves built that beautiful homes and other structures.Tell the whole story.
