What To Expect
1
Old South Carriage Company
Our stable is where your tour experience will begin and end. After checking in you can say hi to our draft horses, watch an educational video, purchases a bottle of water, or use our restroom. As you board your carriage via our inclined ramp / easy loading platform, your certified tour guide will greet you.
2
Charleston City Market
After leaving our stable, your carriage will stop at the City gate near the Market, where a route is assigned by the City of Charleston. Our industry is governed by this system in order to disperse the carriage traffic more evenly throughout the city. Your tour will cover about 30 blocks and 300+ years of history. Though specific landmarks vary by route, all tours pass by sights that give Charleston its unique charm – custom wrought iron gates, well-manicured gardens, historic mansions with picturesque piazzas, and the many church steeples of the “Holy City.”
Cancellation Policy
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

Wonderful tour with Carol, and our beautiful horse, Rex. The tour was about an hour and full of Charleston history. Beautiful homes, restaurants, and local interests. A must do on your visit to Charleston!

We had booked our reservations online. We showed up about 30 minutes early for our departure time and we were allowed to get on an earlier trip as there was room. Check in was a breeze. Got a chance to see the barn where the horses are well taken care of. Bathrooms are on site. There is a lottery system that the carriage companies have to utilize so you don’t know where your tour will take you when you book it. Tom was our guide, and Mac was our horse. Tom is a treasure trove of knowledge both past and current, and it is evident he enjoys doing the tours. Mac did a great job taking us through the historic streets of Charleston. Definitely recommend doing this tour as an intro to Charleston!
