What To Expect
1
Old South Carriage Company
Our stable is where your tour experience will begin and end. After checking in you can say hi to our draft horses, watch an educational video, purchases a bottle of water, or use our restroom. As you board your carriage via our inclined ramp / easy loading platform, your certified tour guide will greet you.
2
Charleston City Market
After leaving our stable, your carriage will stop at the City gate near the Market, where a route is assigned by the City of Charleston. Our industry is governed by this system in order to disperse the carriage traffic more evenly throughout the city. Your tour will cover about 30 blocks and 300+ years of history. Though specific landmarks vary by route, all tours pass by sights that give Charleston its unique charm – custom wrought iron gates, well-manicured gardens, historic mansions with picturesque piazzas, and the many church steeples of the “Holy City.”
Cancellation Policy
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

Outstanding carriage ride. Learned a lot about the history of Charleston and the ride was a lot of fun. The guide, RoRo was fantastic, very nice, funny and knew her stuff. Finn, our horse guide was also fantastic. He, along with RoRo kept us safe from the traffic. He deserves lots of extra treats! I moved here a year ago and have lots of friends coming to visit. We will definitely be using this company again.

Knowledgeable guide, good tour overall to some of the highlights of downtown Charleston. We did have some issues, however. We did not appreciate the guide making a few political comments/jokes, especially on such a politically sensitive day (election day). Also, we found it interesting, even a bit disturbing, that while we heard quite a bit about the opulence and wealth of Charleston's elite and prominent citizenry prior to the civil war era, there was very little if any mention made in regard to the contributions of the enslaved people who made the accumulation of wealth possible, not to mention the horrific conditions in which the slaves were forced to endure. And none of the locations where the slave ships arrived, nor the locations of the actual slave markets, where pointed out or discussed. It almost seems as if there is a bit of a desire to, while perhaps not ignore, but at least de-emphasize the aspects of slavery that made such an important contribution to the economic achievements of the region during that time.

Our guide Zack was fantastic. We were looking to ground ourselves with the layout and local sites. We got that and so much more. Zack was extremely knowledgeable about people, places, architecture, history, and so much valuable nuance. At the end we felt we were a part of the inner workings of this charming city. We definitely recommend the trip.
