Charleston Stand-Up Paddleboard Eco Tour

Overview
This 2-hour introductory paddle on the Edge of America will get you into the basics of SUP, all in the calm flatwater of the Folly River. All safaris begin with "ground school" or SUP instructions with your Lifeguard Certified Instructors. We'll explore alongside the numerous beautiful native birds and bottlenose dolphins. We'll go with the flow, following the tides and wind direction for a great beginning paddle. At low tide we visit a private beach and go for a swim!

Group photo is taken at the end of the tour, which will be posted on our social media pages.

My boyfriend and I had been looking into trying Stand Up Paddle boarding and finally decided to do so while we were in Charleston, and we could not have had a better experience than with Jon and Charleston SUP Safaris!!! We decided to opt for the Sunset Tour and were lucky enough to spot a few dolphins and get a great lesson on different marine animals and the ecosystem around Charleston. Jon and I believe Jen was her name, were so knowledgable about everything we could possibly ask and wonder about. I was so nervous about falling in the beginning, but SUP was very beginner friendly and neither my boyfriend or I fell even once. They care about your safety and your fun and we plan on returning on our next trip to Charleston! We had such a great time and it really was the highlight of our trip....bonus: it was a great work out!

Charleston SUP Safaris is the best new thing at Folly! My husband and I love to be on the water but had never tried paddleboarding. With John's quick instructions, we were standing up in no time! If you are considering doing this but unsure about your balance, TRY IT! Anyone can do it. It just takes you a couple minutes to get used to balancing but you can use your paddle to help you and John will help you to feel completely comfortable. He is so patient and easy-going. You'll love it!!! While you aren't guaranteed to see dolphins, the chances are highly likely. We had one surface about 8ft away from our board! John is extremely knowledgable about the area and even gives you some history and info about the water/wildlife, etc. How could you not want to do this!!??!! So go ahead, put your big girl/boy britches on, believe in yourself and get out there! We loved it so much that we're now looking to purchase our own boards so that we can use them in the future. We've done it again at Hilton Head and felt like we'd been doing it for years! This would defintely be fun for the whole family...even kids (he's very concerned with your safety and makes sure you feel comfortable with what you are doing).Did I mention that it is a great price too?? You can even go on a moonlight tour if the weather permits. Call John today or go see him, you won't regret it! Mo & Clayton Bearden Greenville, SC

We had a terrific time on a 2 hour stand up paddle tour with owner/operator Jon Ory. Jon was everything you could ask for; informative, fun, safety conscious, personable, and dedicated. I feel he did a great job of reading our ability and our energy level and then custom tailoring the experience to fit us. I work in the adventure travel industry and I see a LOT of tour providers. Charleston SUP Safaris is definitely one of the good ones. It was my first time ever doing stand up paddle and I l liked it a lot. I recommend going with a knowledgeable tour provider (like Charleston SUP) to learn the proper paddling and balancing techniques. It would have been a lot harder without the basic instruction and guidance..
