Perfect way to get to know the art scene and see some cool architecture from an insider point of view. Instead of trying to figure out which galleries to go to, or what’s worth your time in a visit to the city, or even if you’re a local and don’t know where to begin— this tour wraps up history, art and architecture in a very cohesive, interesting and fun way. I think it contained quite a lot for around a two hour tour. It gave me great insight to what’s happening in the art scene today.. I don’t think you need any prior art knowledge, because the tour is very accessible (while brainy), and you get to see some architecture, some gallery shows and hear the background of the artist/art, so that you get to understand the context of the show. Learning about it gives you the extra layer of truly understanding art you might like. I also liked the curation of the tour itself, felt like the shows that were picked to be in it were a good variety of stuff, so there was something for everyone. I loved an interactive show at Luhring Augustine, but there was also a stop at the Philip Guston exhibit which is an important painting show that had all this controversy about it, so it was really interesting. Definitely a good mix of different styles of artists and art. Anyway, I highly recommend it!!
