Chicago Walking Tour: Tiffany Treasures

Overview
Learn about the life and work of Louis Comfort Tiffany as we visit some of Chicago’s most magnificent art-glass and mosaic installations, each designed and crafted by the Tiffany Glass and Decorating Company.

In the late 19th Century, the Arts and Crafts movement revived an interest in decorative glass. New, well-regarded homes and public buildings from the era were considered incomplete without decorative glass or mosaics. Louis Comfort Tiffany, the preeminent practitioner of this art, gained great exposure for a chapel he designed for the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Today, the city is home to one of the largest collections of Tiffany art glass in the United States. This tour introduces some remarkable examples of Tiffany's work.

Susan was amazing, very well informed and very engaged. The only feedback is that the topic could have benefitted with another half hour - but that could just be me!

Another great tour with a well-informed and passionate volunteer docent. Some of these works are hidden in plain site in the Chicago Cultural Center and Macy's. We visited the Marquette Building to view a stunning lobby by Tiffany.

The Guide was great. Very knowledgeable and relatable. The Tiffany pieces she showed us in three buildings ( Chicago Cultural Centre, Macy's and the Marquette Building) were amazing. We also saw the Chagall mural and the Picasso sculpture. Definitely worth doing. A true art experience.
