My wife and I wife grew up in the Richmond area and Northern Virginia, and my daughter's family lives near Carytown. Church Hill is an area of Richmond that we have skirted arount but have never really spent time exploring. What a miss! All of the history we heard during our tour from our guide Erin (she made our tour even more memorable!) was interesting, especially stories from the American Revolution and Civil War eras. This tour was the first time I saw St. John's Church, site of Patrick Henry's famous "give me liberty or give me death" speech. If we Virginians / Richmonders enjoyed the tour, I'd bet out of towners would enjoy it even more! Did I mention the food? It was a great mix of cuisine. No disappointments from our crew. Even the vegetarian option was exceptionally filling. Thank goodness we were walking between eateries! An extra benefit is now we are more familiar with dining options in the area, and would go back to any on the tour. I look forward to doing the tour again, perhaps in the fall or near the holidays, and joining River City Food Tours for the Arts District and Carytown tours.

S., Erin came back with so many funny anecdotes about your family, you all sounds like a band of comedians! Something about dancing at a wedding dressed as Santa Claus?! Or maybe I'm getting your stories mixed up. Either way, you're all welcome back any time! - Brian

I live in the city and even I don't get over to the Hill much...this was a great way to see the Church Hill neighborhood, learn some history, and try all the restaurants at once! There's definitely enough food, I skipped dinner that night. The food stops are interspersed with information about Church Hill and Richmond in general, which were new even to the Richmond residents. Highly recommend!

The food tour was an amazing blend of history and delicious food. We have found several new (to us) restaurants to check out in the future. It was a beautiful afternoon and our guide, Annie, was a delight! She brought the history to life and did so in a pleasant way!
