We did the night time cruise. An easy place to reach just a straight walk from Times Square or a quick Uber if you can’t walk.
No need to pre- book, just turn up and buy a ticket or use the city pass.
It’s a 3 floor boat, trick is not to rush on a go upstairs, it’s a 1.5 to 2 hour excursion, stay on the entry level floor and enjoy the cruise from both the outside of the Boat at the rear which is magical as it pulls away from the Statue of Liberty under the Brooklyn bridge, or go right out at the front of the boat, which is fun. There is also a bar and snack area, so nachos and a few beers/glasses of wine go down well, all without being stuck in restricted seats upstairs and a poorer view for photos.
The narrator is ok, not the clearest, there are speakers dotted around for those who want to listen, but it is probably a useful trip once you have some understanding of the layout and localities of New York.
