DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES Unlike other large cities, many people visit Los Angeles without ever setting foot Downtown. Thatā€™s a shame, since Downtown LA is rich with historic architecture and cultural attractions, not to mention sports and entertainment complexes. This slide show gives you a preview of some of the cool things to do in Downtown Los Angeles that are worth a visit.
2
Griffith Observatory
GRIFFITH PARK OBSERVATORY,Hollywood Sign: The observatory is a popular tourist attraction with an excellent view of the Hollywood Sign, and an extensive array of space and science-related displays.

Hollywood Walk of Fame
WALK OF FAME (Hollywood Blvd) Grauman's Chinese Theatre - The Hollywood Walk of Fame - - Kodak Theater, (Home of the Oscars) - The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel , and many more famous places too numerous to list... Since the first star was awarded to Joanne Woodward, in 1960, celebrities and fictional characters that have contributed to the entertainment industry here have recognized with a star on Hollywoodā€™s Walk of Fame. There are now more than 2,300 of these five-pointed bronze stars including some of the most recent honorees such as Halle Berry, Jamie Foxx and Forrest Whitaker and The Munchkins, stars of the 1939 film ā€œThe Wizard of Oz.
4
Sunset Plaza
Lunch at Mel's Diner:The ultimate 50ā€™s dining experience! George Lucas filmed scenes for American Graffiti at a Melā€™s Diner. The one on Sunset Strip, where we stop for lunch on the full-day tour, is still a great place for celebrity spotting! You donā€™t ā€œhaveā€ to have lunch here ā€“ but why wouldnā€™t you want to? You just might recognize someone famous at the next table. Donā€™t let their clever disguise (Rayban(tm) sunglasses) fool you! Dine with the stars!
5
Beverly Hills
Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive: This is a city where the pawn shops are called ā€œcollateral lenders,ā€ and make quick loans on Mercedes and Ferraris instead of toasters. This is a city where some of the clothing stores require customers to make advance reservations to shop, and where shoppers may routinely drop $100,000 or more in a single visit to a boutique on Rodeo Drive or Wilshire Blvd. A city where the post office offers valet parking. This townā€™s ā€œSister Cityā€ is none other than Cannes, France.
6
Santa Monica
Santa Monica Beach: Follow Americaā€™s most famous cross country highway to the Pacific Ocean, and you will find yourself at the Santa Monica Pier. Designed as a pleasure palace and park a century ago, currently this restored family playground is gearing up for its 100th Gala in 2009.
7
Venice Beach
Venice Beach: Hilary Duff shot a video here, Jim Morrison and the Doors and bandleader Benny Goodman both got their careers started here, and now it is the place actors Jane Fonda, Viggo Mortensen and Elijah Wood call home. Please note: Due to Venice Beach city conditions, we might substitute Venice Beach to Fisherman's Village in Marina Del Rey. Itā€™s Venice Beach, the free-spirited beach resort town beloved for its Bohemian character, boutiques, street performers, artists, fortune tellers on the boardwalk and as a stellar place for people-watching (not to mention star-gazing)!Muscle beach and much more....( LAX drop off is available at the end of the tour: 4:00 pm).

My party of 4 was booked for this tour on March 7th with pickup from the Carnival Panorama at Long Beach and drop off at our LAX hotel. Due to the authorities in Long Beach, we were refused in leaving the ship due to CoronaVirus. I called the tour provider, Sunseeker Tours and kept them abreast of the situation. We ended up missing the tour and not being able to debark the ship until the next day. I contacted airlines, hotels, and another tour provider and they all graciously agreed to work with us with a refund. They are the only ones that would not help us out in any way. I would not book a tour provided by Sunseeker Tours unless you have insurance on the tour. A couple on our ship booked a tour with a different tour provider in Los Angeles and they nicely refunded their money.

NOT CERTAIN AS TO WHY YOU POSTED THIS REVIEW TWICE. BUT, SINCE YOU DID... HERE IS OUR REPLY TWICE. Thank you for making the time and effort to provide your review. Although we have been fortunate that the vast majority of the TripAdvisor reviews of our tours are very positive, we also need to know when our guests are not satisfied. I appreciate your having included enough detail concerning your displeasure so that other TripAdvisor contributors can understand your issue. I read it fully. Hopefully, you will afford me the same courtesy of reading my input also. I presume you booked your tour with us because you saw our marketing materials and substantial number of positive reviews on this site. We are a small company with a proud history of providing services that larger companies do not. Among our unique offerings is that we often take early morning arriving cruise passengers on an 8 hour, nearly 100 mile tour of Los Angeles and get them to the airport for their late evening flights. Being small with 14 or fewer passengers gives us the option to provide that benefit. Being small, however, does put us at a disadvantage against the mega companies. Our cancellation/refund policy is an industry standard. Airlines, hotels, cruise lines, and tour operators all have their own similar restrictions. Our being small, however, does not allow the flexibility that large volume companies have. If cancelation of 4 seats on a 200 seat airplane, 60 seat tour bus, or 2 rooms in a 300 room hotel is needed, the large companies can, although seldom do, make compassionate adjustments and absorb the loss in exchange for positive ā€œgood willā€ or favorable TripAdvisor reviews. Cancellation of several seats on a 14 passenger bus is a very different issue. We are not heartless and without compassion. Your situation was indeed unique. But how do we select which situation deserves compassion while another does not? Do we waive the policy for a missed plane? Bad weather? Itinerary change? Over sleeping? How can we be fair to all issues? We, unfortunately need to apply it to all cancellations uniformly. It is somewhat like the David and Goliath story, but in this situation, David loses and is pummeled with a negative review which, for some reason, was actually published twice to add insult to injury. I do not expect my explanation make you like our policy. As a matter of fact, I do not like it either. But unfortunately it is a necessary evil if we are to continue providing our services. Hopefully, you understand our plight. Thanks again for your input.

John picked us up from the cruise terminal. He was very chatty and informative all tour long, highlighting key points of interest around the city. The bus was clean and helped with charging of our phones before being dropped off at the airport. Most important for my late teen kids. John was helpful taking lots of photos as required. On a slightly negative point, it would have been good to stop at Rodeo Drive and a brief stop at Griffith Observatory was not long enough to venture further to get a picture of LA skyline. We stopped for lunch was at Melā€™s Drive In. This is one place I would not really recommend. The food was expensive and toilets dirty. It would have been better to have more time on the walk of fame and explore the shopping opportunities. On the whole John was very good and you do get a whistle stop tour of LA.

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments concerning your time with us.. I have passed your kind words about John on to him. Regarding the Rodeo and Observatory situations. I understand the disappointment. Tour buses are severely restricted on Rodeo Drive making stopping there impossible. The Observatory allows two options: 5 minutes for "drop offs" for long term parking. We include the quick stop there in hopes our guests can take that famous "holding the sign" picture without taking significant time from the many other attractions we visit. Finally, we have shared your most disappointing comments about Mel's with their management. We have been stopping at Mel's for many years and your comments are sincerely appreciated. Thank you again for taking the time to provide us with your observations.

Good tour to see many major L.A. attractions as this was our first time in the here. Not much occasions however to get off the van to take pictures. We would have liked to learn more about the city. Guide was a bit jaded. Very good lunch at Mel's Drive In. Overall satisfied.
