My boyfriend and I randomly found this offering through Yelp and decided to check out the bike tour. Though native New Jersey-ans, we have both spent time in the Philly area as my extended family is from PA. Never have I learned so much in one visit to this city that I did not know...not to mention the bicycle ride was a great way to stay engaged and literally take in what we were seeing. Jonas, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable on all of the areas we saw and was open to all of our questions (we lucked out and ended up being the only two people signed up that day, so we got a private tour). He made the tour a really fun experience for us, and we got free water bottles to take home as little souvenirs. I would definitley recommend this to anyone who enjoys traveling, learning and staying active.

I got a long transfer flying from Sacramento to Rome and decided to spent some time in Philly. I am a cycling enthousiast, so what better way to see the city the by bike! It was a nice Thursday, the weather was good and as it was my first time, I decided to take the Classic City tour. I could not store my luggage anywhere, but Fairmount bicycles was kind enough to do that for me. Josh, the guide, really took to the time to setup the bike and make sure I felt comfortable. Josh is a very good guide and it is clear he has deep knowledge of the city and its history. He really listens to you and makes you feel at ease in the city. It was a great first visit to Philadelphia and I can recommend anyone to take a tour if you spend some time in this city. If I ever will be in the opportunity to visit again, I will take one of the other tours! Thanks! Regards, Henri from The Netherlands

This is the third organized bike tour I have taken – previous ones included Paris, France and Gettysburg, PA. The reason I like bike tours is that they put you closer to people and street level while at the same time allowing you to see a large part of a city. The main things I look for in a tour are: 1. Opportunity to see key sights and perhaps experience a few. 2. Knowledge of the tour guides 3. Safety – which includes tour guide attitude, routes and quality of the bikes. My 13 year old son and I took the Classic City Tour with Josh and during the tour we had the opportunity to see the all major neighborhoods and key sights. Along the way we learned a lot about American history, stopped for a fresh pretzel and customized the tour a bit by stopping at Reading Market for a late lunch. The market was a real treat as it was a great spot to people watch and while there we stopped at Dinic’s for a fantastic roast pork sandwich. On the tour we received a good overview of the large number of high quality museums, art galleries and public art in Philadelphia and the background our tour guide provided helped us to make a decision as to which ones we might like to attend later. Our tour guide was Josh and he has lots of energy and enthusiasm along with incredible knowledge of the city and its history. Josh started the tour with something every great tour guide does – he asked us what we knew about the city/area we were going to tour and if we had any particular areas of interest. Our areas of interest were history, food and to a lesser extent the arts and Josh then made every effort to ensure he touched on the areas of interest we mentioned. My 13 year old son and I took the tour and we felt very safe and not to pushed in terms of distance, hills, traffic, etc. The tour company is very well organized with instruction, helmets, etc as well as water bottles they give you to keep and have very good quality bikes that are kept in very good working order by the bike shop they work out of. What we really liked about this tour was that it was at street level - what I mean by that is that in addition to all the historical information you really got a sense of Philly today and the living city that it is. I would highly recommend the tour and Josh in particular was a fantastic host.
