My wife and I took the 3 hour bike tour two weeks ago with Josh as our tour guide and his two compadres as support. We have taken bike tours in many cities both in the US and Europe and this one ranks as one of the best we have been on. I am originally from the Philly area and thought I knew some things, but Josh's history and knowledge of the city was amazing. The tour takes you through/by many sites including the Art Museum, boathouse row, the Schuylkill, and the Italian Market to name a few. Even a run up the Art Museum steps, Rocky style, is part of the tour. Philly is amazingly bike friendly and the tour was very safe. YO, Josh! Great Tour!!

This tour was tons of fun! Having lived in Philadelphia for over a decade, taking this tour was a fantastic way to reconnect with the city, learn some new fun facts, and spend a few hours outside with great people enjoying the city I love. The bikes are fit to the riders with helmets, water bottles, and small pouches for phones and cameras. The pace is such that riders of all levels can enjoy and take in the sites without fear of overexertion. Plenty of breaks to discuss landmarks and interesting Philadelphia history give riders the opportunity to recuperate and chat between pedaling-portions. Josh, the guide and Joe, the "sweeper" were kind and supportive of all riders. Josh's knowledge of Philadelphia history is vast and his humor mixed with personal anecdotes brought laughs with the lessons. He encouraged participation and gave plenty of time for photo-ops and questions. Joe kept the cars at bay and the slower riders company at the tail. Like protective papa-bears these guys provide the tools and encouragement perfect for those less comfortable with road riding. Overall, I'd highly recommend taking a tour with the Philly Bike Tour Company. I look forward to trying their Fairmount Park bike tour too!

We were two moms and our two 13 year old boys on this tour. We arrived at the bike shop and met our bike tour guide, Josh at which time he picked out our bikes based on our sizes and let us ride in the alley to feel out the bike. There was another family of 5 on the tour with us. One of the boys in our party isn't a big bike rider and he was very nervous about doing this tour and riding in the bike lanes is close to the cars. At one point he decided to stay back and wanted to wait at the shop while the rest of us went in the tour. Josh handled this great and took extra steps to explain the safety precautions and the rules of the road. He assured the boy we would have a great time and be completely safe. Luckily he decided to go and he did great along with the rest of our group. Josh led the group and another girl from the tour company followed up the rear so we were covered from front to end. Josh is a bright and articulate guy who knew so much about the city. The ride was about 12 miles in total and there were not many times at all that we got tired or that the ride was too much to handle. There are lots of stops to see different sites so you got kits of breaks and we drank lots of water. Some of my favorite sites were at the art museum and the scenic ride we took after we left there. We learned so much and saw lots of the city we would not have seen. Towards the end we stopped for cheesesteaks at Pats and Gino's. I will say Pats wins not only because they were better but the lady at Gino's was sooooooo rude. We ended the tour back at the bike shop and right after we had planned to do the Penitentiary Museum tour which was just a block away so that worked out great. We all agreed the tour was one of our favorite things that we did. I would do it again next time in the city if for nothing else but to help me burn off all the cheesesteaks we ate over three days!
