Clear Kayak Tours in Weeki Wachee

Overview
Minutes from the famous Weeki Wachee Springs State Park mermaids see the river from a whole new perspective with this kayaking tour! Ride in a clear kayak- which has the advantage of greater visibility of the underwater world. Kayak quiet and calm coastal waters before paddling up the active and beautiful spring-fed waters of the river. Be on the lookout for wildlife like manatees, turtles, fish, birds and much more! A great adventure for beginners but we do paddle upstream for the first half of the tour, which is a great workout and worth the drift paddle back to the launch site. Your guide will stop for pics along the away! Expect an adventure that is part wild and part urban as this iconic river is a popular one to enjoy living and recreating on! We stay in our kayaks for the duration of the tour. Please remember the river and wildlife is subject to daily changes in behavior and conditions. All kayaks are tandem. Weight limit of 250lbs per seat and 425lbs per kayak.

It’s really a terrible experience I have ever had. My husband and I were discriminated during the whole trip. Firstly, we arrived the location and met the guy we even don’t know the name. When he introduced the trip, he emphasized his experience with other two American couples that “8 Chinese came from New York drop their eight phones”, which made us uncomfortable because is there any relationship between phone-drop and race? After we start our kayaking, the guy just took care of the two American couples and introduced the sightseeings for them and left us behind far away. One hour later, we had no power to catch up with them and decided to go back, however the guy finally found we were not followed and came to find us. We told him we went back because we don’t have power and were left behind, he yelled at us “we are the entire group, if you go back the team need to go back with you, I’ll ask them to go back”. Then I told him “we can wait them complete the trip and then go back together”, however he ignored me and to ask the other two couples come back. I don’t know what the guy told them, but when the two couples come back, one of them said “you waste money”. What??? What happened? Why were they so rude? I paid the money to have fun and for relax but the guy want us to have the competition, omg it’s ridiculous. When we got back to the yard, the guy even didn’t help us to get out of the boat, and the couple who were so rude even said we didn’t help the guy to put the boat to the right position. Is it the amazing and unforgettable experience? To some extent, it’s really unforgettable because we were discriminated.

We strive to provide all guests with an educational eco tour and are disappointed to hear about your experience. We immediately reached out and left a message asking that you contact us so we could hear about your experience. We then tried to contact you again and via email one more time. Since we didn't hear back from you, we contacted the four other tour guests to understand the situation better since 3 of the 4 other guests left 5 star reviews. They shared with us that the guide, on several occasions, pulled alongside you to offer help with kayaking tips and advice since it appeared that you were struggling. However, when the guide left your kayak to also make sure the other guests were doing well, you turned around and left the tour without notification and started kayaking in the opposite direction of the tour. The other guests and guide stated that when they were able to catch up with you that you wanted to go off on your own. The guide said no and stressed to you again that as per our policies for safety reasons, all parties in the tour must stay together. The other guests said you then said you’d just wait for them and wanted to exit your kayak. We do also require that all guests stay in their kayak for the duration the tour as to protect the river. We realize this can impact the experience guests are desiring which is why we do notify guests in advance of the tour and at time of check-out. You did agree to stay with the group and in your kayak for the duration of the tour. We are not a rental company. We are truly sorry if this was unexpected as we try hard to ensure guests receive all the information necessary for a great experience before they reserve. The tour did turn around early, which had a negative impact on the other guests' experiences. As one of the owners, who is a person of color I am concerned that you felt discriminated against in any way. We have attempted to reach you via the phone and email so we can hear about your experience but have not received a call back. We hope to hear from you 352-234-4568.

Quick trip to Florida before the kids have to go back to school to see some mermaids and manatees. We can check off both now. Gary was an excellent guide and we had a great time, enjoying the river and learning about the flora and fauna. Extra bonus were the manatees; honestly didn’t expect to see any. A+ from the two sixteen year olds too, and that’s saying something.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We agree two sixteen years olds can have high expectations and we are thrilled we met them. Gary is a treasure and loves to share his knowledge of our unique but fragile Eco-system. Manatees are a treat and we are thrilled you were able to see them! We hope you will adventure with us again.

My friends and I took the guided tour with Vinny at the end of July. Vinny was a wonderful guide, very personable an easy going. He shared lots of knowledge about the area. We are not avid kayakers but found the boats and current easy to manage. Unfortunately the water was not what we had hoped for ( not the guide or the company's fault at all)- ut due to the dredging project and stormy weather leading up to the trip, it was pretty dark. We did get to see a couple manatee so we were very happy with that.

Thank you for sharing your experience and understanding about the changes in the water. Significant rain events can and do impact the clarity of the water. We are thrilled the manatees made an appearance and you got to see these gentle creatures! We will let Vinny know you gave him a "shout out!" We hope you will adventure with us again!
