What To Expect

Marianna

Once you meet up with your guide, they will take you on an adventure of a lifetime! You will find yourself surrounded by limestone bluffs and cypress trees, as you paddle to discover underwater caves. Jump into the refreshing springs at our favorite swimming spots or enjoy the beautiful views above and below right from your 100% CLEAR kayak! Along the way be on the lookout for variety of fish, turtles, crawfish, and fossilized shark teeth. Be sure to not only listen to your guide as they give facts about the springs and wildlife but also the call of birds, such as heron, ibis, woodpeckers, warblers, cardinals, blue jays, mockingbirds, hawks, eagles, owls, and vultures.

What a cool, fun experience! The water was so clear you could see underwater caverns and fish swimming right underneath the clear kayaks. We also got to get out of the kayaks twice to swim in the beautiful, clear waters. The tour guide was very knowledgeable bringing up interesting and fun facts about the springs and the ecosystem. It helped me develop an awe and appreciation of natural springs. My absolute favorite part of the tour was getting to swim underwater through a small cave entrance and resurfacing inside the cave where the tour guide was. I then exited the cave by swimming back out underwater. I felt completely safe as the tour guide was present giving safety tips. We also got to climb up on a tree branch and jump off into the water below which was an exhilarating experience. We were on this tour for 3 hours and with all the nature above and below the spring water, there was never a dull moment. It’s so much fun, and I can’t wait to go back and do this again on a return visit to Florida!

Marianna, Florida is a hidden gem and the dynamic brother-sister duo, Luke and Brooke, of Get Up and Go Kayaking - Merritt's Mill are diamonds of the first water (pun intended). This was our very first kayaking experience and in no time Brooke and Luke had me and my husband out and paddling in the crystal clear water of Merritt's Millpond. As we paddled, we took in the views of nature around us, above us as well as the marine life beneath us through the clear kayak. We swam in the cool 68 degree spring-fed water, explored an above ground cave with ties to the Civil War and even swam through an underwater cave. Brooke and Luke's knowledge of the history and geography of the area was very impressive. If you find yourself anywhere near Marianna, treat yourself and take the clear kayaking tour with Brooke and Luke.
