We had an excellent time on our Rufugio tour. All of the staff was very helpful. Pierce was our guide who was simply amazing. He took great care of us from the very beginning to the end. His knowledge of marine life was very impressive and he attended to our every need. Highly recommend him as your guide. We had a blast!

My husband and I had an adventure weekend planned for celebrations and had one of the best experiences working with the team and planning an excursion exploring Sea Caves. Kim helped us with logistics, and was constantly in touch with spring weather updates and suggested Refugio State Beach as a better option when the weather appeared too windy for sea cave exploration. We are so glad we visited Refugio State Beach!! Scott and Rachel were excellent guides giving great instruction for us as intermediate kayakers, and told us all about the history and ecology of the area along the way. 5 minutes after launching our kayak and heading into the waves, we were greeted by a gray whale no more than 25 yards away! We were very excited and continued to explore the kelp forest and learn about the Kelp Forest Trail used by the native people thousands of years ago. Scott and Kim were thoroughly delightful, engaged, and readily shared all of their knowledge and enthusiasm. We can't wait to return next year for another great adventure!!

We had an incredible experience kayaking in the ocean at Refugio State Beach, the weekend after Thanksgiving. Scott was an amazing guide and provided an experience which went way beyond our expectations. He was so friendly, professional, and extremely knowledgeable aboout so many topics related to marine life, geology, evolution, etc. Therefore, the entire outing was such a wonderful learning experience for us. Appropriate gear and clear instructions were provided every step of the way, resulting in a stress-free, exciting adventure. We spotted and examined a variety of marine life, as we kayaked through amazing kelp forests in the ocean, and on the beach as well, finding some wonderful specimens of brittle stars, sea urchins, and holdfasts (learned a lot of new vocabulary!). Scott was able to educate us about everything we saw! The company sent clear instructions before our trip date about what to bring, which was most helpful. We definitely recommend this kayak adventure, and especially recommend Scott, as the tour guide. We are planning to ask for him again in future adventures, next summer, exploring the sea cave tours at the Channel Islands.
