I have visited CW several times before. I wanted my new husband to experience the wonder of CW. However, this visit was extremely disappointing. It is possible due to the covid distance restrictions and limited number of employees available, we could not enjoy many of the attractions such as: Carriage Ride: Sold out Dinner at the Kings Arm Tavern: Booked solid Museum Murder Mystery: Sold out Restaurants at the Merchant Square had almost TWO hour wait times. We were advised to make reservations & purchase tickets "well in advance." It was truly annoying to arrive (after plenty of walking) at these places only to be disappointed and turned away. I didn't dare attempt the "Haunted Williamsburg tour," fearing it was either sold out or booked solid. It was not appealing or convenient to eat dinner elsewhere & return later to possibly find the tour unavailable. As I mentioned, do your research, plan ahead, purchase tickets in advance, and most of all have plenty of patience & cash when visiting CW. Good Luck. (Sadly, I will probably never visit again.)

We spent a week in the area and spent at least half our time visiting and seeing the sights in Colonial Williamsburg. All the workers were very informative and fascinating to listen to the experiences of living in that time. We saw 2 performances, one by Ann Blair, and one by Thomas Jefferson. Their interaction with the audience was awesome and educational. We went one night on the ghost tour and enjoyed that greatly. One word of caution - Be sure to make reservations at the restaurants in the market square area. Also since we were there off-season, 2 of the major taverns were not open - would recommend checking ahead of your visit. Also make sure to take the tour of the Palace.

I had been to Colonial Williamsburg 30 years ago and this trip was very different. We paid a lot of money for our family of four adults and didn't see much more than anyone else can see just walking down the streets for free. For example, the tour of the Governor's mansion was only three rooms on the first floor! When I went years ago you toured the while house. If I could do it again I would have saved the money.
