What To Expect
1
Bruton Parish Episcopal Church
The flickering candlelight of this 17th-century church hides a chilling history of wartime burials and unmarked graves beneath its floors. Visitors have heard phantom footsteps echo through the pews, while thermal imaging has detected unexplained cold spots at the altar. Is it the spirits of lost soldiers, or something more sinister lingering in the sacred halls? Bruton Parish Church Cemetery, the centuries-old graveyard, also holds the restless spirits of Williamsburg’s earliest settlers, with eerie whispers often captured on EVP recordings. Some claim to see shadowy figures drifting between the tombstones, including a woman in colonial dress who vanishes into thin air. Bring your ghost-hunting equipment—many have reported their EMF detectors spiking near unmarked graves.
2
Governor's Palace
This grand estate once witnessed the tragic deaths of wounded Revolutionary War soldiers, their cries still heard in the dead of night. Paranormal investigators have recorded sudden temperature drops and strange anomalies on spirit boxes near the ballroom. Will your ghost-hunting gear pick up the presence of those who never left their posts? Join us and uncover the old structure of the Governor's Palace that was rebuilt in the 1930s after being destroyed by fire in 1781. During repair, they discovered more than 150 skeletons on the ground, in contrast to many of the other buildings.

I have gone on 2 tours with Colonial Ghosts previously, and they were excellent. I was excited to go again, this time with my husband, on Halloween night, which is our wedding anniversary. We and 6 others sat outside for an hour, and our guide never arrived. At least 2 of us tried to contact someone at multiple emails, phone numbers, and websites, and it took an hour to finally get someone to acknowledge us. We were eventually rescheduled for the next night, but it was no longer Halloween or our anniversary. This tour was an investigation, but I definitely expected more "tour" than there was. We stopped at 3 locations for a couple of minutes of the tour guide talking to us at each one, but the rest was all just us walking around with the meters. I was a bit disappointed by that, because my husband had never done a ghost tour in Williamsburg before, and he didn't get to hear all the stories I had on past tours. I may not have paid enough attention to the description, but I would have liked more stops and more stories. Our guide was very nice, and showed us a couple photos captured on past tours. I would still recommend the company, because I had 2 great experiences previously.

Steve, the guide, was awesome. But, for us older folk who have issues walking, he walked too fast and we had a hard time keeping up. No ghosts found or heard so I'm not sure the tour was worth the money. Nothing exciting happened.
