Corning Museum of Glass
Showcasing more than 3,500 years of glassmaking history, the Corning Museum of Glass features nearly 50,000 pieces of classic and contemporary glass art and objects. See works ranging from a small Egyptian pharaoh head to an enormous Tiffany window, and discover the wonder and artistry behind glassmaking. Explore the stunning day-lit Contemporary Art + Design Wing, which houses the best of the last 25 years in glass, and a 500-seat Amphitheater Hot Shop, a space dedicated to live glass demos and design sessions. See glass created before your eyes during a live, narrated Hot Glass Demo, and be inspired to experience glassmaking for yourself during a Make Your Own Glass workshop, with projects for all ages. Choose from fused picture frames and suncatchers, sandblasted drinking glasses, flameworked beads, pulled-glass flowers, delicate blown ornaments, and seasonal projects (additional fee). You can also search the gift shops for handmade glass treasures or grab a bite at the museum cafe. Excellent museum! There's art, history, science, and engineering here, and it is fascinating and beautiful. We loved our visit, and there are plenty of real glass artists' work available for purchase in the gift shop! We loved the live demonstrations, too. Wish the pavilion was open for making your own glass.

Thank you for visiting and taking the time to leave a review! We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the museum and our Museum Shops that offer a variety of items from local artists as well as items from all around the world, at all price points. While the outdoor pavilion for Make Your Own Glass is not open at this time, we are still offering Make Your Own Glass experiences in other locations on campus. These projects can be signed up for on our website prior to visiting to guarantee availability on your visit date. We hope you will visit again soon!

Such a fun day! Even in the age of Covid we were unaffected and enjoyed the day. The entrance was super smooth and there are plenty of sanitation stations throughout the buildings. Can’t wait to return!

Disappointing. So much wasted space where more exhibits could be. On their website it touts you can make your own glass piece. Nope, they don't have that right now. Lady at admissions desk said they are looking to bring it back soon. WELL THEN TAKE IT OFF YOUR WEBSITE. the biggest disappointing part of the experience is the fact that we read and saw the history of so much glass making and when you go to the gift shop to get something authentically made here, NOPE, most of the things we saw have signs on them "imported from China". Are you kidding me? I can get that crap on Amazon. I wanted something made right there in Corning at the place I was visiting. I guess my fond memories of this place as a child were just that, a child's perspective. Taking my wife there now was a tremendous disappointing experience.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, Rory. We are sorry that our current offerings did not meet your expectations. We are still offering Make Your Own Glass experiences as advertised on our website but some of the previously offered experiences (flame working and glassblowing experiences) are not offered currently because we cannot safely offer them at this time with social distancing guidelines. We are working to re-imagine some of these experiences to be able to offer them again. In the meantime, we are still offering fusing and sandblasting projects and we apologize if this was not communicated. I will also share your review with the Shops about making sure that more local and domestic made inventory is easier to find. We do offer many pieces in the Shops that are made here in Corning and locally, but as you can imagine we get requests for glass at various price points and work to make sure our inventory covers all tastes and budgets. Thank you again for sharing your expectations and experiences.
