Corning Museum of Glass
Showcasing more than 3,500 years of glassmaking history, the Corning Museum of Glass features nearly 50,000 pieces of classic and contemporary glass art and objects. See works ranging from a small Egyptian pharaoh head to an enormous Tiffany window, and discover the wonder and artistry behind glassmaking. Explore the stunning day-lit Contemporary Art + Design Wing, which houses the best of the last 25 years in glass, and a 500-seat Amphitheater Hot Shop, a space dedicated to live glass demos and design sessions. See glass created before your eyes during a live, narrated Hot Glass Demo, and be inspired to experience glassmaking for yourself during a Make Your Own Glass workshop, with projects for all ages. Choose from fused picture frames and suncatchers, sandblasted drinking glasses, flameworked beads, pulled-glass flowers, delicate blown ornaments, and seasonal projects (additional fee). You can also search the gift shops for handmade glass treasures or grab a bite at the museum cafe. Spend as much time as you'd like at the museum touring at your own pace, and return the next day if you didn't get enough!

Be careful in deciding whether to participate in the "Make Your Own" glass ornament feature. What you make (at a cost of $25-$35) may have to remain at the Museum for overnight cooling and is then shipped to you at an Additional cost of $23. Ours (a 2-inch pendant) was ultimately received (one week after our visit) in a bubble-wrap envelope showing postage paid of only $4.50. Understandably, all businesses are experiencing increased labor costs, but we thought the Museum's standardized $23 fee for "shipping" a bit excessive. You may be better off buying something in the gift shop and taking it with you when you leave your visit.

Anthony, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We appreciate your feedback regarding our make Your Own Glass shipping fee. Most of our projects do have to go through an over night cooling process. We do offer sandblasting as one of our project in which you can take home the same day. For our flame working projects (bead or pendant) we do offer free shipping. For our glassblowing and fusing project we do charge a shipping fee as these projects require more shipping supplies. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know how your expectations were different than your experiences. Thank you again for visiting and we hope you get the chance to visit us again soon.

This is a five star museum - so much to see and absorb - from the demonstrations, to the modern galleries to the 35 centuries of glass ( do this FIRST) You need to allow two days for this museum - we spent 4 hours and if we had alloted the time would have returned the next day Your ticket is good for two days - a real bargain. a hidden gem

This is really an amazing museum experience. We definitely di d not allow enough time to completely view all the exhibits and will likely plan another trip back to Corning at some point in the future.
