This is one of my favorite destinations!! The museum houses not only antiquities and rate beautiful glass, but teaches about the great accomplishments and contributions of the Corning company to aerospace, building, technology, and automotive accomplishments. Every time I visit, I wall away with more useful information. There is something for everyone - from STEM child to the artistic person. Beautiful displays, easy to see and enjoy. The do it yourself studios offer great options for all ages. The store has tremendous values and a favorite of mine for holiday shopping.

I was hoping for some real detail on the industrial processes for making different types of glass, especially the chemistry and how various ingredients in specific quantities change the properties of glass. Also, interested in various uses for glass including electrical insulators, glass used in combination with other materials, etc. What we got was an enormous and (mostly) overpriced gift shop as the focal point, enclosed by a large art gallery of sorts. Has a cafeteria but appears to be economically advantageous to bring you own lunch.

Thank you for visiting. We have a very informative research library on all things glass that you can visit as well when here or you can even ask the Rakow’s librarians any specific questions. I will be sure to pass on your feedback on our Innovation Center, which explores the history of glass inventions, to the curators who are in charge of developing its content.

I wasn’t sure I could spend four hours looking at glass art, but time went by so quickly. It was well worth the trip, especially since I’d been wanting to go there for ages. It’s not a far drive from the Finger Lakes, so if you go to the lakes be sure to hit the museum!
