Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum
Real stories that must be told - that’s what you'll experience at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Start your journey through country music history with Sing Me Back Home: The Journey Begins, Folk Roots to the 1960s. This exciting multi-layered experience tells the story of country music’s humble folk roots, and tracks its evolution into the 1960s. In 2010, the museum opened an all-new exhibit experience, expanding on Sing Me Back Home with Dreaming My Dreams: The Journey Continues, 1960s to the Present. This expansion included the addition of hundreds of new artifacts and multimedia elements that focus on country music’s recent history. The history comes to life with every era of country music represented.

This is a well laided out museum, which covers all the greats and has included all the new comers. It's very organized, easy to navigate and you don't feel like anyone is on top of you. I have been to the museum twice, you will spend a minimum of 2 hour while you emerse yourself in history and music. The special exhibits are fabulous,I end up goggling these talents from being even more curious after I leave.

This place has an abundance of country music history. I loved the tribute to Keith Whitley and Brooks and Dunn! So interesting to read the details of each artist. I will say I was extremely disappointed not to see Terri Clark in there, unless I just missed it. I mean come on, it’s Terri Clark! The whole wall taken up by Kasey Musgraves was a let down... a few cases maybe if it’s a special tribute.. she is good, but not the vested in to country music...put the real country music in there to go along with everything else. They don’t make music like they use to. Every Opry member should be in the Hall of Fame museum !

There is so much to see here (especially when so many other local country music museums - Cash, Cline, Willie Nelson- could each fit in a large basement), Museum staff were very polite and helpful and posted throughout the building. Seemingly every major (and some medium) singer or group in country music is represented here with hundreds and hundreds of pieces of memorabilia encased and shown off chronologically. Costumes, gold records, instruments, posters, music and concert footage-they’re all here as is Elvis’ gold Cadillac and the Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit movies. There is a large hall with plaques for each inductee. You could spend many hours here if you want to see everything (audio tour device was very helpful and added a lot of info) or 90-120 minutes and view most of the main collection. Gift shop is extensive and the on site cafe looked really great but we didn’t eat here. The museum is only a few minute walk from Broadway and the honky tonks and stores there.
