Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum
Real stories that must be told - that’s what you'll experience at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Start your journey through country music history with Sing Me Back Home: The Journey Begins, Folk Roots to the 1960s. This exciting multi-layered experience tells the story of country music’s humble folk roots, and tracks its evolution into the 1960s. In 2010, the museum opened an all-new exhibit experience, expanding on Sing Me Back Home with Dreaming My Dreams: The Journey Continues, 1960s to the Present. This expansion included the addition of hundreds of new artifacts and multimedia elements that focus on country music’s recent history. The history comes to life with every era of country music represented.

I've been to the museum twice it's in a great location and is a good place to get out of the heat or rain for a few hours (depends when you are in Nashville). There is an extensive collection of instruments on display and it provides a good education on the roots of country music. Because much of the collection is focused on the past of country music younger visitors i.e. under 30 may find it fairly dry. Admission to the museum can be painful. We bought tickets on line while waiting in the physical line up for tickets because it was so long, then we waited in a long line up to access the museum which is done through two elevators (very poor design) when we got to the front of the line the host told us that the scanner doesn't work on our online ticket bar code and we had to go back to the information desk to deal with a surly employee who told us it was no big deal and just go get back in line. So it took about 40 minutes to actually get into the museum and we stayed about an hour and a quarter.

This is no stuffy museum! We had 3 generations visit the CMHoF and even though my 13-year-old daughter and I only enjoy the newer pop/rock country, we all had a fabulous time! The multimedia displays keep it very interesting- pictures, videos (all the way back from the 1920’s), costumes, instruments and several full size cars (Elvis, Smokey & the Bandit). All ages had so much fun mixing & recording songs ( which can be emailed to you for free) as well as creating an digital album cover using your own picture. Museum is a beautiful building - both inside & outside.

We are not big country music fans, but decided to visit the Museum and Studio B Tour. Our guide, Ron, was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about both Studio B And country music. We really learned a lot and had a wonderful time!
