Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum
Real stories that must be told - that’s what you'll experience at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Start your journey through country music history with Sing Me Back Home: The Journey Begins, Folk Roots to the 1960s. This exciting multi-layered experience tells the story of country music’s humble folk roots, and tracks its evolution into the 1960s. In 2010, the museum opened an all-new exhibit experience, expanding on Sing Me Back Home with Dreaming My Dreams: The Journey Continues, 1960s to the Present. This expansion included the addition of hundreds of new artifacts and multimedia elements that focus on country music’s recent history. This was a pleasant surprise for us. We went there because "it was the thing to do",but we were really surprised at how well done it was and how much knowledge we gained.

My adult daughter and I visited the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum during a long weekend in Nashville. Neither of us are particularly fans of country music, but we both enjoy music and history and we thought the museum was well done. It contains exhibits from the birth of country music through to present day. There are small displays about many individuals and groups from each period and style, as well as exhibits on guitars and other instruments. And even if you don't know anything about country music, you'll still recognize memorabilia and information about cross-over artists like Elvis Presley and Taylor Swift. We spent 2 1/2 hours in the museum and hall and I can imagine that hard core country fans who really like looking at the exhibits and reading the stories could spend a lot more than that. The price of admission was reasonable and I think it is a "must do" for anyone visiting Nashville who hasn't seen it.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. The restored videos of old performances are fascinating. This is a magnificent building and the displays are informative and interesting. Unfortunately due to poor scheduling on our part we had to cut our visit short after a few hours otherwise we would have stayed much longer. There is a room where they show excerpts from Hew Haw, the Johnny Cash show etc complete with the tv ads that accompanied them. Great walk back in time. I’m the furthest thing from a Country fan but we highly recommend this venue. Wonderful..
